Main purpose of job:

The British High Commission is recruiting short term support to join the team relocating Afghan and British nationals to the UK via Pakistan. The Afghan Relocation Islamabad Team (ARIT) made up of caseworkers, logisticians, consular staff, information managers and policy staff drawn from the UK Armed Forces, CBS staff, FCDO in London and the BHC community. Roles and responsibilities / what will the jobholder be expected to achieve?:

We are seeking full-time Crisis caseworkers join the team. The work is fast-paced and requires good IT and problem solving skills and a high attention to detail. It is also requires empathy; many of the people you’ll be helping will be anxious or have faced some form of trauma. But it is also rewarding work; caseworkers help eligible Afghans through the resettlement process, from leaving Afghanistan all the way to departing for the UK to start a new life. You’ll be joining a supportive and experienced team who will work closely with you as you learn the ropes.

• Leading as a Caseworker and acting as the first point of contact for vulnerable Afghan nationals eligible for resettlement to the UK and guide them through the resettlement process.
• Taking decisions on appropriate support needs - accommodation, medical, and other life-support - for Afghan nationals while in Pakistan ahead of their eventual travel to the UK.
• Leading on relevant identity checks and any additional investigative duties to ensure that UK security interests are protected.
• Providing Pakistani cultural advice and recommendations to Afghan nationals and wider ARIT colleagues.
